Link- SMART-1’s Moon Impact captured & animated by Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope

SMART-1 asteroid collision movie The scientists at the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope managed to capture the impact flash of the SMART-1 spacecraft as it intentionally crashed into the Moon on 9/3/06. So far, this seems to be the best observation recorded of the event. Even more interesting, they have animated the resulting dust cloud, seen here, in a series of images that represent from the moment of impact up to ≈130 seconds later. The CFHT/SMART-1 Impact web site has more background, analysis, and images.
