Observation Log 1/9/06: Quality time with the Beehive Cluster

On the first semi-clear night in over a week, I just had to get outside for a least a little while. The seeing was very poor, and the Moon was so bright that naked-eye skies were limited to about 20 stars. With the binoculars, at least I could enjoy the Beehive Cluster & Orion Nebula for a while

For the more technically-minded, I could see to about magnitude 6 with the binoculars. But hey, it beats seeing nothing but clouds. This has been a miserable few months for stargazing. Tonight wasn’t a first in any way, but it was fun.
