A real treat- sharing the sky with Jan!

The weather and the seeing had been unusually fine for several days. Jan and I went outside, brought some comfy chairs we could lean back in, and I did something I love–pointing out the wonders of the sky. I brought my green pointing laser, and gave her a guided tour under the moonless, clear sky. I made it fun by making it personal, such as sighting Arcturus, and explaining how the light reaching our eyes in that moment had left the star about the time she was born.

A special treat was a faint but clear view of the Milky Way! I have never seen it from my back yard, but it was especially exciting to share it with Jan, and talk about what we were seeing, where we are in the galaxy, and revel in God’s creation.
