Observation Log 9/15/04

By sheer luck, one of my new friends from my California visit is a budding astrophotographer. We took a trip to Lick Observatory on Mt. Hamilton and spent several breathtaking hours in the parking lot looking up. I brought my laptop & Starry Night, and learned a few new dimmer constellations. I saw the Andromeda Galaxy with the naked eye for the first time, though I had to use averted vision. And the most spectacular thing of all, the Milky Way was high overhead, and just beautiful.
