Observation Log 8/30/04

I bag Uranus for the first time!

Done snickering? Good.

I’d always thought Uranus required a good telescope, until I read that it’s visible to the naked eye under dark skies. I needed the Canons tonight, but it was an easy find, right along with 58 Aquarii and Sigma Aquarii, forming a distinct triangle. The moon is only 5.3° away and full, but still it was easy. I hope to get out in a few days and see that it has moved, just as an extra reality check.

Another first!
